It’s okay to build on other people’s platforms starting out. It’s like being the show opener band for a much larger headliner band. Eventually, you want to become the headliner.

I have put a lot of content on Medium and build a few followers on social media but I always lead them to email lists, my podcast, or some other property that I own and have full control over.

YouTube, Medium, Facebook, all of these guys can ban you and shut you down in the snap of a finger. You need to push people to your own brand and communities.

ACTION STEPS – Consider how your customers, fans, and followers are interacting with you. Do you own that medium?

Are you ready to be entre vied? Let's break free of the life we're told to live, create freedom and well, by adding value to others. Live, challenge traditions, challenge authority and get onto ified. Hey, guys, welcome to the show. Be doing great the day your host Patrick used. Glad the heavy on entre fied. We're here to impact the world by removing the traditional limitations that have been placed on society in the work environment. That's along with a way to say, Screw that 9 to 5. Dude, it's old. It's antiquated into classic, and it should be put on the shelves with the other classics. Is 2020 million? We got the Internet. You should be able to work from home. You shouldn't have to drive 27 hours a week to go to a building and back just to sit on the computer all day. It's stupid. It's stupid. It's old. It's useless. So building on other people's platforms we're going to be talking about today, huh? Gonna get over on a rant, you know, corporation. You know he knows where. Corpse in their corporation. Corpse? Yeah, that's because you're walking corpse in there. I did it for a year, and the I almost I couldn't do it, man. I was so depressed, miserable. Somebody was basically watching my every move breathing, breathing down my neck. I had to have a whole past to basically go to the bathroom. It was just absolutely stupid. Um, anyway, totally getting out from Rance here but building on other people's platforms we're talking about today and it's okay to build another people's platforms starting out and what I mean by building on somebody else's platform, will you two, for example. Let's say I make a bunch of YouTube videos. They get really popular. I get a couple 1,000,000 downloads, subscribers or whatever. Um, that's awesome. But but but be very careful. It's like being the show opener band. Very much larger headliner. It's kind of like you're the small band nobody really knows much about, and you're going out in front of Tool or a C D. C. Maroon 51 of those bands you're you're you're going out before they go out, so you're getting their crowd beginning their audience. And so you having the opportunity to play for the audience to pick up a couple of new fans, but that audience doesn't really care about you. I mean, there's a couple to do and it's not your audience. So eventually you want to become the headliner. Eventually, you want to have your own audience to build your own audience. And I hate to tell you this, But if you're on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, instagram and you have a massive following audience, they're not your audience. They are the headliners audience in the headliner. That's YouTube, man, that's YouTube's audience. That's not your audiences to YouTube's. And until you make them your audience, you don't really have an audience. You're just borrowing YouTube's. So if one day YouTube says, Hey, bro, I don't like you, I don't want you to be here anymore. They can cut you off in the snap of a finger, I saw a guy. He he was cut off over night, and he was next day, freaking out, posted all over social media, crying about how YouTube screwed him over. And I didn't feel bad and you guys maybe like, wow, this guy's so meanie. Such a nail. No, because if you aren't naive enough to think that you can just, you know, you can just live without pushing people to your to your site, to your email list to your audience and building them is your customer. Then that's what's going to happen because YouTube isn't gonna always allow you to be on there, especially if they don't like what you what you're doing. Excuse me. What you're about, they're not gonna They're not gonna want you on there forever, so just be wary. And don't blame other people when it happens. It's your fault. You should have saw it coming. If you are a true business owner business person, you're not going to give. You're not gonna basically go to Wal Mart and get your customers from Walmart and meet your customers at Walmart every day to sell your product. They're not. Your customers are warm March customers. They're just passing through and stopping by and buying some of your stuff. But they're not your customer, so keep that in mind. Keep that in mind. Guys, I have put a lot of content on medium, and I've built a couple followers on social media, but I always leave them to email lists, park my podcast or some of the property that I own and have full control over. You know, nobody can take my email list from me. Nobody can take my podcast listeners from me. You know, I You guys are basically we're an audience together. We work together, you know? You're not listening to me through I don't know some other weird place. And if apple shuts me down well, guess what? My r s s feed goes to Google stitcher Spotify. If apple shuts me down this fine, I got 20 more other guys lined up pushing my content. So keep that in mind, guys. And nothing I want to talk about. Just had in my mind. I'm totally having a brain fart right now. Um, jeez, it was It was pretty good topic. Okay, I'm gonna keep going. YouTube, medium Facebook. Okay, That's what I was gonna talk about. That's what I'm talking about. Social media. So, blogging and social media, it's dead. I was washing Grant Cardone Growth Conference 2020 in l. A big deal. Big deal. Right? Digital marketing CEO comes on the stage, and this is guy. He's owner of digital marketing dot com, The biggest number one rated marketing. You know, website agency whatever on the entire Internet entire world is this guy. He comes up on the stage and he says this. He says, Look, digital marketing. It's simple, he said. Facebook instagram, YouTube, he says. Nobody wants to see your content unless it's just crazy. It's It's stupid. It's absurd. It's just crazy off the hooks. Unless you have a massive following. Nobody cares if you post every day of every week. Nobody cares. Nobody is going to start liking your stuff. You're not going to grow Page. No one cares unless it's a funny, mean picture, a Jiff picture or somebody eating a tide pods. Nobody cares what you're putting out there. Don't waste your time posting on social media. It's a waste of time. Instead, what you do is you post something amazing on Social Media, an awesome interview with somebody like mine with Dr Ryan. And that was Episode 64 E. NT. 64. If you want to go back and listen to the episode with Dr Ryan, we talked about leadership and mindset. But the point is, is these social media sites what you can either be posting crazy stuff or you could be publishing amazing content and advertising it because it's pretty cheap. It's like a dollar a clicker. You know, dollar for whatever. It's really not that bad. Like I compose something for 30 bucks that runs for 30 days, a dollar a day and reach a couple 1000 people. I mean, that's awesome. And you can also segment your target audience very specifically because Facebook and get your age range or gender where you live, what you like, very specific. So it's not just casting a wide net. But I tell you this because it's important. Don't waste your time on social media. It's waste. It's just that it's just a waste. People only want to see means and Jeffs don't do it. Don't do it. Don't wish trying trying to promote your business Unless you're actually buying ads, you either create content or you promote great content, create content, promote great content. The next lesson. The next big point is blocks. Bloggers useless. They're useless. I don't care what you say. The useless they're dead. It's It's over. I mean, basically, nowadays all that you do on your phone when you Google is what you ask a question. Hey, Google. Hey, Siri. What? When is the game? Tonight. Hey, Google. Siri. Uh, when is the soccer stadium coming to Nashville? Which FBI? There's gonna be a soccer stadium being built in Nashville, Tennessee. I've never been to a soccer game. Pretty excited. There's one on the 26th which was yesterday, and I didn't get to go because I'm out of town. But, uh, I'm actually really excited. To see soccer games is pretty cool, but anyway, my point is Google is the It is the content place. People all put their stuff on Google. That's all they care about Google. And in order to get ranked in Google, you have to answer a question. I don't care how good your article is. Nobody's gonna read it. People published so many articles. It's nothing funny. Goto. I think it's buzz sumo. They published a study, and he said, like probably blogging is like It's like almost none of it, virtually no's rip, so you don't even have to block any more. I don't block. It's useless. I generate traffic through podcasting because it's a medium where I can speak to someone you're near commute, you're not gonna be reading a block post where you're driving. No, you're gonna be Listen to this, So don't waste your time blocking. It's useless. Instead, what you do is you find simple, stupid questions. People are asking about your nish. So let's say you're in the food business. There isn't dumb questions like How do you make a steak medium rare? You just answer that question high. Heat it. Ah, 135 degrees inside, 165 degrees inside cooking at four minutes on both sides. There you go. That's how you get S CEO on organic search Nowadays it I don't care that last week you saw your dog Susan in the Park Park and you played fetch. Hardly anybody reads those, and then if they do, then you probably already have a big following. But if you're trying to build a business, you're trying to build organic search, trying to build followers. Don't waste your time blogging the number. One thing I'll get to that. I let you guys know the number one way to build your business, and this is from you know me from digital marketer dot com. I mean, all the big guys is what they're doing, and I'm not saying you should copy because they're doing it. But I'm saying to make sense and you'll get one. But anyway, YouTube, medium Facebook, all these guys can ban you and shut you down and the snap of a finger. It's super easy. You need to push people to your own brand and communities. Your own websites, your own podcast own email is those are important. And so, while totally just voice cracked their hoops, consider how your customers, fans and followers are interacting with you. Do you own that medium? Do you own that content? You own those followers? Are they truly followers of you? That's your action step. Consider how your customers, fans and followers interacting with you. Do you own that medium? Is that yours? An email list that yours. You collect those emails, you have their permission to email them. You have your working together, so you know, just I'm gonna tell you guys here. It is the number one thing to focus on in 2020. The next big thing is email marketing, getting emails. It's it's It's the number one thing. It's so ugly. But it's so good, because when you have somebody's email What is the first thing you check every morning? Text messages, e mails? I live in my e mail, man. I live in my email inbox. I get emails all the time about people want to be on the show, and I'm all the time. And when I'm back talking different people working out deals all through my email, I'm also reading and learning through my email because why there's a bottom. When I go through an email, there's an end of the email. Facebook. Read it. Twitter. YouTube. There are bottomless pits of just entertainment. That's it. But an email. It's just a straight do this. This this in the subject. See tomorrow Easy, simple, effective and you own it. All right. I hope that helps today. Guys, go ahead, get on my calendar.
