Retirement will kill you

Subscribe to the show and all the other subscribers thank you for listening

Retirement isn’t what everyone imagines. People imagine never working again and doing whatever they want but then when they get there, they don’t know what to do with all the time. This leads to depression caused by a lack of purpose.

I retired for 1 year when I was 24. I went on a cruise, went to the beach, and slept till 11 every day. Eventually, I’d stay up all night, afraid to go to sleep. I would be unable to get out of bed because I was so afraid to face the day. I had lost all purpose and all hope. I was in a bad place.

We all need community, people, and some type of work. Every single person needs a purpose and a mindset of retiring from business or work is not good to have. I will never retire, just work a little less, but I’ll still have meaningful work.

Identify your purpose. What is it?

And, um, you know, a lot of people say, Ah, if I didn't have money, I never have to work again And I hear that a lot, too. So I'm here to talk about those situations and why you You see people like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, who are absolutely filthy rich. But yet they work every day and they probably work harder than average people, most average people. And we'll talk about why that ISS so welcome to the show. You know what, what with shows about it's It's about impacting the world by removing the traditional limitations that have been placed on society in the work environment and the business environment. That's kind of what we're here to fix, to address and fix. So retirement isn't whatever one imagines so picture this. Let's have a little store, tow pictures. You're sitting on the beach, you sipping Moses, Whatever. You drink on the beach and you're watching your dogs play. Your kids play beautiful day. There's nobody else out there because it's a Monday at 10 o'clock and all the corporate slaves air in their desk or change their desk. So you're you're you're out there on your own. You know, you're hanging out, enjoying the day, and, um, you know, it's just awesome. You have to worry about money. You don't have to worry about anything. So you just sitting there enjoying the day and ah, hanging out. You're the resort. You go back to your hotel. You know, you've been there for about I don't know a week already. You got one more week to go. You having the best time of your life. So then fast forward. A week later, you come home. You go spend about three weeks with your with your mom and dad and say hello. You spend great quality time together, Fast forward A couple weeks later and you're back at your house. Your you're feeling tired from all the traveling you've been doing the family have been visiting. But you retired. You're 30 years old, so you're 30 years old. You're retired. You have to worry about anything. You know, it's all taken care of. And so you go into your I don't know what your bedroom and you start watching TV a week later. Same thing you're watching TV A week later you're in your bedroom. You're watching TV. You're sleeping into 11 every day. Your love in life You're eating great. You're going to steak houses, Thio all these beautiful places getting this fantastic food, everything. Life is amazing. Fast forward. A couple months later, you're starting to get a little tired of eating all these great meals. Watching all these great TV shows, you're starting to sleep till two. In the afternoon and you're starting to feel drowsy. Tired? He started to wonder what's going on. You got all the money? It was time. Why am I feeling down? Drained? Where is this going? Why? Why? Why am I like this? And ah, next thing you know, you're depressed. You're massively depressed. The next thing you know, you're you're really struggling to get out of bed. You don't want to wake up. You don't want to face the day. And that is truly if you were to stop your job the day That's exactly what happened to your life. I guarantee it. I guarantee it. Now explain why in a minute. So people imagine never working again and doing whatever they want. But then when they get there, they don't really know what to do with all the time. This leads the Depression. It is caused by lack of purpose. So when you work at your job, we'll see you working at your you know, your corporate job, Whatever you're waking up, you're getting in the traffic every day, traffic hour with all the other guys out there. You know you have a purpose. Your purpose is to get toe work, to provide for your family, to provide for that new house. You want the new car, you want to pay off your debts, you have a purpose. You're driven towards a goal. And even though you're in the worst possible situation setting in Russia are driving to a job that pays below average salary, staying around a cooler, talking about the best football teams. And, you know, you're just not. You're not really. You're happy? Well, you have a purpose, but you're not really happy with that purpose. But you still have a purpose. But when you have all this free time, you don't have a purpose at all. If you have a $1,000,000 in the bank, you have no purpose because you don't want to work anymore. So that's what happens. How do I know this? Because I did it. I retired for a full year when I was 24 years old. I had sold a website and made a pretty decent chunk of money. I said, I'm a retire. I don't work anymore. And I went on a cruise. I went to the beach for a couple of weeks. I visited my family. I visited my friends. I mean, I went all over the US having fun. I even playing the trip to Spain. But I never took it because I lost my purpose and I was actually about six months in. I was sleeping till two in the afternoon, every day, two o'clock. I was depressed. I was so depressed. Guys, I was almost. I was in a very dark place. Let's just say that I was I was very in a very bad situation because I retired this. This you guys maybe Like what? Yeah, I figured out that that that year it brought to my eyes the fact that you have to have a purpose to be alive, to be going. And I'm not saying your job is your purpose, but you have to have a reason to get up every day, a reason to believe in something because money is just a number and people think that money is gonna solve their issues is not It's gonna create Maur because you're not gonna know how to manage it. You're gonna have relatives asking for it. No, no, not at all. You need a purpose that you live for, that you wake up for that? You eat, breathe. Sleep for my purpose is to talk to as many people, help them impact the world. I mean, this this show right here is out in 30 different countries. I have people contact me everyday doctors, lawyers, business professionals asking Hey, can I be on the show? Hey, you want to be on the show and and it's like it's just astounding. How many people that you know my voice can reach. I don't even really like my voice. Some people may it. Some people may like it. I personally hate it. And I think that's what that any speaker like bison like garbage. But that's something you have to overcome. You have to be vulnerable. You gotta put your neck out there. But let me tell you guys, it's it's really hard. It is really hard when you don't have a reason to wake up when you don't have a purpose. We have reason to face the day, and I learned that it was one of the hardest lessons I've ever learned. But I'm so happy that I made that sacrifice that I learned that early in my life because I see people in their fifties sixties always walking around saying I can't wait to Ritter on Lee four more years, but what they don't get is when those four years over it's not like you're gonna hang up the cloth is never gonna work again. No, you're just gonna be going to a different line of work, charity work, whatever. You could pick up a new job. I mean, I saw was one woman, she retired. And then the next week she started a new job. So you had to find purpose in something in a mission. A belief, a business, you know. That's why all these business had these mission statements. That's their purpose as a business and the collective whole. And people like to be parts of tribes and communities, and it makes sense, you know, we're humans. And so we all needed a community. Guys, we all need a community. We all need people and some sort of work. We need some sort of work. It doesn't have to be a job. You could start a business doing something you could. You could be an investor. You could be something, but just making money and retiring and just live in your free time living the life. It's not that glorious. It's really not you, because when you're in that moment of you, Oh, I have all my bills taking care not to worry about this. And you just sleep all day and watch movies. It gets really old really fast. Trust me. I've been there, and it may sound illustrious to you. You may say, Wow, you know, I really wish I could do that right now. And sure, we all need to get away, take some time off. But it's very important to realize that that's not going to solve your issues. Your problems. It's not, you know, retirement is you know, it's not something that I ever want to do because even to the very end my life I'm gonna keep working because I love business. I love people. I love community. I love helping people. I love being a leader, being a teacher, mentoring. I love being mentors. I love learning. So why would I ever, ever stop working? I love it. I love it. I love it. My purpose is to keep growing. You know, when you quit working, you quit growing and we don't have a purpose. And when you don't have growth, you start to die. You're like a plant without water. You begin to whether you begin to fade, you begin to die. So guys don't don't think that just because you hit retirement or I'm retired or my business made enough money. I don't have the working in. Don't think that that's reality, because I guarantee you every single, massive influential person you've ever seen. They have had moments where they they have sold their business. Where they said, OK, let's start anyone. Let's start a 2nd 1 And you know, people like Jack Dorsey Twitter. He owns Twitter and ah, Square. Are you as a co founder? But he he has two businesses. Look at Elon Musk. No space sex. Tesla. These guys are working two or three different jobs, hundreds of hours, Um, in a couple weeks, 100 hours a week. And they're just killing it because they love what they do. It's really truly purpose and passion that drive us as humans. So just keep that in perspective. Retirement almost killed me. It really did. Guys, I almost said, I don't wanna be here anymore. And that's big. That's really big. That's a really scary actualization. So keep that in mind and realize that What? What are Identify your purpose. What is your purpose? I want you to think about that right now. What? What is your purpose? What do you waking up every day for? Why are you in the gym? Why are you reading? Why are you learning? Why are you listening to this podcast? What is your overall big purpose? Is it free to take care of your family to get a new house? New car, Get out of debt. What is your purpose? In life? Everybody has one. And if you don't unfortunately, you wither away. So think about that, guys. What you thinking about that hate? Go ahead to me on instagram just d m e p H u 9000 pi unite. Doesn't I cut off the first letters of my name? Could Somebody took the name I wanted? Um, yeah, DEA me. Let me know what your purpose is, Love Hear from you guys. All right. Thanks for listening show. Have a great rest of your Saturday. Are you feeling entre fied yet? We hope so.
