Appear at points which the enemy must hasten to defend; march swiftly to places where you are not expected. – Sun Tzu Art of War Ch. 6, Part 5.

In chess, if you ever start back peddling or playing defensive, you will lose.

Defense doesn’t win. It’s a playing safe strategy and playing safe will cost you more than playing offensively. You either win or you learn if you play offensively. If you play defensively, you lose, and you learn nothing.

Think of a situation in your life that you are playing defensively in. How can you offensively turn it around and find another way to strike at it?

So today we're gonna be talking about using the art of war to attack in business and life. The art of war is such an amazing, um, just text written thousands of years ago. I mean, it's just the greatest probably text I've ever red assed faras strategy miss so much wisdom in there. And it's just very short, concise to the point. And you can reference it for a lot of situations. Business, life, I mean, because in today's society we're not riding around chopping people's heads off swords. It's a little more different. You're kind of doing that in the office instead. Uh, metaphorically. But, you know, it's it's really a great text. And I really appreciate the the genius of the guy. I mean, there's so much wisdom in it. So no one aboard bore you on the details. I'm gonna push on here, but I'm gonna read you a quick little excerpt excerpt. May. I can't even say that a poor part of the jeez May I cannot speak today. I'm gonna read you a quick section of the Art of war by Sun zu Ah, here we go appear at points which the enemy must hasten to defend. March swiftly to places where you are not expected. It's the Sun Szu art of war Chapter six, part five So appear points which the enemy must hasten to the fin march swiftly to places where you're not expected. So I'm talking about this because It's such a powerful way to look at things. You know, so many people look at things defensively as something bad happens, like you have a flat tire. So you look at it as a bad thing. You're like, Wow, this sucks. Or you could look at it offensively and say I needed new tires. I'm glad that I finally have a wake up call from life. And it was a safe wake up call because of men procrastinating. So, yeah, I should totally get new tyres now. Thanks for leading has happened. So you're attacking the situation more optimistically and you're coming at it from a different angle. And you're saying, you know what? This is a great opportunity. I'm glad I'm happy I was prepared, and now I'm overcoming it. I'm not playing defensively or not complaining about the money I lost or not losing sleep over 200 bucks for whatever for new front tires. You know, it's not a big deal, so I've had a lot of consumer debt from a few years ago, you know, normal guy, like everybody else out there, totally had a lot of consumer debt, blew a lot of money on stupid stuff. You know, we all do it well about dumb things. Well, by the newest phone's newest watches. You don't need it You don't need. I'm sorry, but I'm sorry to break this, Steve, but it's a lot not a need. And I bought a lot of things I wanted not needed. And, um, see, I had a lot of consumed it, and people kept telling me, Hey, man, stop investing and spend it all on the debt. But I knew if I did that, I knew that if I could grow my money larger than the debt and faster than the debt. If my dad is you know, let's say I have a loan at a business loan at 5% interest. Well, if I'm making 10% off my investments, I could pay that off. Now, obviously, this is a way more risk. Your play you could walk into an ambush or you could, you know, walk into a trap so I I could pay it off faster if I played offensively, you know? So I took my years of stock knowledge and I began day trading, swing trading, used margin. I totally put some risk out there. And Boom. Guess what, guys? Double my money in a couple of months. It was crazy. The stock market's just on fire right now and so easily doubled money. And what I would do is I would sell about. I would sell something that was at the top at the time. I would sell it, I'd sell half of it, and then I would just take that money out and go pay a credit card completely off. Cut it up with some scissors. Throw it away. So that was my strategy over the past couple of months. And, man, let me tell you, it is like, wow, you know, almost done with consumer debt forever. I'm never touching that again. Off. I want a car. I'm gonna buy cash money. Not gonna touch any kind of stupid loans out of that, I only recommend loans for assets. They're things that create you money. And as long as the lone outperforms the interest rate, so that's just my experience could be wrong. I could be wrong telling you guys, but this is what I have experienced, so I don't My count took the money, pay down a lot of debts I attacked at points, which the enemy must hasten to defend. No credit card company expects you to take money and invest it and and make massive profits off of it and then pay them off completely. That's the opposite thing. Credit cards. They prey off of you paying the minimum amount, and they keep raising the maximum amount of credit you get. So that way you keep racking it up, racking it up, racking it up. That's what they want. That's what they want. They never expect you to hit them in the back, to circle around and be like, Here's a lump sum. Get out of my face. They don't see that coming in Like what? So you had to take it by surprise. He had the march swiftly to places where you are not expected. Like I said, never nobody ever expect that. And, um, you know, in chess, I play a lot of chess. Total nerd. If you ever start backpedaling or playing defensively, you're goingto lose every single time. If I'm playing chess with somebody and they take out my queen or something really important to me, and I'm like I get shook it shaken by it. And I'm like, Oh, God, Oh, gosh. Oh, gosh. And I start playing defensively. I start reacting, I start trying to defend my pieces. They're just gonna put me where they want me to go and then just take complete advantage of my backfield and just wiped me out. But if I say you know what, I've lost all my pieces. I'm gonna push forward. It was actually a guy one time. I don't know how much you guys know about chess. I'm gonna kind of nerd out a little. There was a guy one time. He was beating me pretty bad. And all I had left was some ponds and a king. That was it. No other pieces. I chased him down the board with the King. I played offensively with the King peace, which is the piece. You lose the game if someone takes it. I chased him down the board of the King. I checkmated him with a king and upon that was it. And he had all of his pieces Queens, bishops, everything. And he was so mad he never played with me again. But that's just a funny story, because if I would've played defensively and try to block and just sit in the back. He would have just had his way with with doing he wanted. Like I said, these credit cards, if you just pay the minimum payments, they're gonna give you interest. That is probably more than the minimum payment itself. Or close to it. Let's say $100. They're gonna charge you $70 interest. And you're only really paying, I don't know, 20% of the actual 100% of money that you gave him. So that $100 your own pain, $20 to knock the bill down. That's awful. And they're making so much money than milk and you like a cow. So I'd be keep playing defensively. And given that minimum payment, and you just keep blowing it off, you're gonna lose your gonna get slaughter. Defense doesn't win. I'm sorry, guys, but defense doesn't win. And football, sports if you play a really, really good defense. But you can't score yourself, you're never gonna win. I don't care how good your defense is. You're never gonna win at best. It's gonna be a break, even tie. And that's no fun. You have to play the wind, you gotta win. So it's It's a playing safe strategy defensively. Playing safe strategy and playing safe will cost you more than playing offensively, because if you play safe your whole life in defense of your whole life, you're not gonna have anything to show for any of it in your later years, what are you gonna pass down to your your Children? We're gonna pass down, I don't know. 10,000 bucks, 20,000 bucks. Will he go to me? Where you gonna pass down a library of books that helped you excel that helped you become, you know, a massive, um, I kind of knowledge of someone that has spread a lot of knowledge. A lot of, well, two other people because of the knowledge of game from I'm not saying every books, but the knowledge gained from reading books, taking time to reflect on yourself, building a legacy or building a nest egg. You know what's gonna get you further? So you have to look at it that way. If you're constantly playing defensively, are you gonna have the little bitty nest egg to pass on the next generation? In that honestly, that may not even cover the funeral costs nowadays. And so you had to look, he had the look of things like that. You gotta be real, man. You gotta be real. This is a real life. We're not in kindergarten. This is real life. We're having real discussions right now and playing defensively your whole life is not gonna win you anything. And you know, I don't know about you guys, but I want to pass things down to my family, Children, all of them. Something that is going to make their lives better. Money is not gonna make anybody's like it may make. Okay, I take the bag. It may make their life better in the short term, but assume is gone. What did they actually learn? You know, so even said you you teach them principles. You passed on knowledge and really important things that you learned experience on top of, you know, business knowledge, investing knowledge. You passed all these things down to your next generation in a business, a legacy. Then they don't have toe worry as much as you did. They can take it, hit the ground running and go farther than you ever could have imagined. So leaving that legacy is done by playing all offensively. So when you play offensively, you either win or you learn. If you play defensively, you lose and you don't learn anything because you're too scared to do something. You know, it's kind of like in football off here if you're always on the bench, you never out there playing because you're scared that you're gonna get hurt or you're scared you're not gonna play Well, you're just gonna sit on the sidelines and watch is everybody else goes through life enjoying it. And you're just sitting there like, Oh, you know, uh, you know, I'm too scared. I don't wanna get hurt. You know? What if things go south, I don't know about this, Guys, you can't be that way. You have to be offensive, but you have to appear points with the enemy must hasten to the fend and and look, you have to think of yourself. You're also your own enemy. You are your own worst enemy, so you have to go on an attack mode to yourself. So let's say you're really afraid to do something like Go do a speaking conference and give a speech. You're gonna be your own worst enemy getting into that door and giving that speech You may give the best speech ever heard ever. But you never made it. Because why you play defensively said, Yeah, I'll just wait till I know more. I'll just wait till I'm better. So he had to play offensively. Think of the situation in your life that you're playing defensively right now. What is something right now you're playing defensively and that you're you're scared to act upon your setting back. You're letting it knock you around. You're not doing anything about it. Is that consumer debt? Is it a relationship or you just letting it knock you down, over and over and over. What is something right now that you're defensively playing, you're not offensively on the attack. You're passively letting it build up. What is something that you're doing right now? Okay, how can you offensively turn it around and find another way to strike at it? So let's say your relationship is not good with your friend. You've been passively avoiding him, not going out with him not playing games with him, not doing whatever you guys do that fun you don't want to break it to your friend that you just don't wanna be friends anymore. And you've been letting this build up build up. So you're looking at it defensively because you're kind of avoiding. Now, if you go on the offensive mode and you go up to him, you say, Hey, man, look, I don't want to be I don't want to be this guy, but I really just don't. I just I feel like we're not having a great connection and I don't really want to move forward in this relationship. It's friends. I just don't. You know, I'm just not comfortable happy with where he's going in all that. In that way, you kind of settle where you are. You know, I actually read that, um, the most stress and problems come from relationships where people don't know where they stand. So they're in acquaintance. Let's say you got a guy at work. He's like that weird acquaintance guy that you say hi to, and you guys have an awkward conversation and that's it. You never hang out outside of working. You don't really know where you stand, and so it's so weird and it causes greater stress on you than a friendship or an enemy Because you don't know where you stand. You're just like, Hey, bro, what's up? Are you cool? Are you loser? What? Who are you? My friend. Are you my? Are you kind of my friend? You know, in high school. Perfect example. High school college. Get a lot of those. And you didn't know where they just acquaintances. So being upfront with people, letting them know going on the offense, facing your problems, your fears is what you gotta do. Guys, it's really what you gotta do. At the end of the day, you just got to do it. Okay, Look, if you need help with that, just text me 6154318389 Text me and I'll happily walk you through it. Talk with you. Whatever you need.
